Food, Glorious Food

Seems like that is on my mind most of the time but I really don't think that's too much different than before I was pregnant. Wednesday we had the missionaries over for dinner. It is not often that we get a chance to feed them since we never see the dinner calender in Primary so this was a nice treat. The forecast for Wednesday was in the low 70s so we thought it would be nice to BBQ some hamburgers and have a nice summer-esque dinner. All in all it was a yummy dinner and nice company. Friday we were invited to Robyn and Aaron's for dinner. This was the first time we had been to their place since they've been married and Robyn has done a great job in decorating. Why couldn't she have done that here? :) We had fajitas, spanish rice, and black beans. It was delicious. And to top it off we had tres leches for dessert. Troy made the cake and I poured the milk stuff over it. I was impressed and I think the baby really liked it. Saturday we invited Troy's co-worker and boyfriend to dim sum. Let me tell you...I have been looking forward to this all week long and I told Troy that if she had to cancel then she would have to have a doctor's note. It was a great lunch and our friends were pretty open into trying everything we ordered.

Saturday we also decided to look at cribs and bedding to get an idea of what we (or should I say I) liked. I have to say our options are pretty limited. I decided that I do not want pink bedding. Well, that cuts out pretty much 95% of what's out there. I also don't want anything to crazy flowery. That's another 4.5% so I'm left with .5% to work with. I guess it's all of my own doing but what can I say. We did decide that we liked the color black and espresso and for a pattern for the bedding stripes and circles. We ran into a friend at the store and she said that she would be willing to make the bedding as long as I find a fabric that I like. Hopefully now my options have gotten a lot better.

On a sad note, after looking at our brackets, both Bragg and Ware family, we have come to terms that neither of us will win. I did have a good run on the Ware family bracket for maybe 2.2 seconds and was in the 98th percentile on ESPN. That made me feel good until Louisville lost yesterday. I expressed my frustration with Troy last night saying that it was a conspiracy that N. Carolina was able to play all of their games in N. Carolina...home court!!!!! Troy looked and found out that N. Carolina fans that lived in Chapel Hill would have to travel a whopping 38 minutes to the first two games and then a crazy 2 hours to last night's game. Really. Is that fair?! I don't think so. Well, after wiping away our tears, Troy decided to figure out the number of possible outcomes of the tournament. I thought that was nerdy but today, as I slept in, Troy created a spreadsheet that calculated the winners of all 32 possible scenarios for his family. He has since updated it tonight reflecting the games tonight. We were rooting for Davidson but we do find it cool that this is the first time since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985 that all the #1 seeds have made it into the final four.
Now, I need some advice from the ladies out there. I have my next doctor's appointment next Monday and it is the dreaded glucose test. The only reason why I know that it's dreaded is that practically everyone I know has said that it's horrible tasting. I guess my question is - is there anyway to make it not so horrible tasting? The doctor recommended that I drink it cold and that would help but is that I can do. Be honest.

Spring Break - Part 3

Work and March madness.

Spring Break - Part 2

We left Will and Kristin's Sunday afternoon in time to get to my parent's house for a turkey dinner. It was really good, and thanks to Mom for the peach pie. We had a game night at Shane and Heather's after dinner, which was fun, especially for Jackson! The highlight was busting out the Wii and playing some Wii sports. We played Tennis and then had a bowling tournament. Dad and Mom got the hang of it pretty well.
Look at that form! Both from Mom, and Taylor, who did bowl some from that very position. It was not an all Wii week. We headed outside on Monday and Brett dominated Taylor and I in basketball. On Tuesday we had lunch at Sweet Tomatoes and then headed over to Mulligans to play mini-golf. I think Taylor pretty well dominated us, despite the early distractions of the Bingham girls golf team!
If you look really close you can actually see Taylor's ball catching some air!

Look at that concentration!! Taylor drove us home, and I think we ran something over near the airport. We pulled into Stansbury and Taylor felt it pull, so he got over to the side. He asked Brett to lean out and see if the tire was flat. Brett said that it looked "A little low."

Luckily it was pretty easy to pop on the spare, and I guess they even got the tire fixed for free. If you want more pictoral details from the change, let me know and I will post one of the other 21 pictures that Brett took!
All in all it was a very fun week, and we were sad to see it come to an end. At least coming home to 60 degree weather helped a little bit!!

Spring Break - Part 1

Tracie and I decided to take a Spring Break of sorts starting last Friday. We wanted to get out and see everyone before things got too hectic this summer with the baby, etc. We flew out Friday and spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday hanging out with Will and Kristin. It was great to see the kids and how big they are getting. As you can tell Sierra really enjoyed playing with her Aunt.

Tracie has been having a craving for cocunut cake for the past few weeks, so we solicited the help of Cakemaster Kristin in making it. Turns out only half the people liked cocunut, hence the decorating job on top.
We had fun eating at Wingers (and their lightning fast service), playing Mario Party, watching the BYU game, eating Pier 49 pizza (service approaching Winger like quality), disc golfing in the snow, disposing of a dead cat, and watching Will teach in the primary.

The Verdict is in...

Can you tell what we're having?!?!?!?!? If you can't tell by the "hamburger" sign to the left of the small cursor, we're having a girl. The funny thing is, the doctor was trying to find a shot to take that would distinctly tell us it was a girl but she kept moving around too much. She told us she was trying to find the right angle and when she said that I told her it was a girl because she was being stubborn and lo and behold, I was right. She is quite the mover, and also liked to kick off of Tracie's very full bladder (the big empty black space in the first one). We are very excited, and now we just need ideas on how to decorate, and baby names.

Belly Shots

As promised, here is a shot of Tracie's belly from Friday.

Saturday morning I got up before Tracie, so I made my way downstairs and watched some Sportscenter for an hour. Tracie got up and we made breakfast, and then I was going to play Guitar Hero for a little bit. I got about six notes in, when the screen just disappeared. We looked around, and the power was still on. I guess our TV had finally died. So I looked at Tracie and she said that we would have to downgrade to the small TV in our bedroom. I said, "Or we could upgrade". She said she would support me in whatever decision I made. So as any red-blooded American male would do, we headed to Best Buy!

If you have never been through the process of buying a TV much too big or expensive than you will ever need, let me just say that it is a daunting task. You have all these decisions to make, all of which in the end don't matter too much, because the TV you end up getting will be vastly superior to the one you currently have. So after spending way too much time in Best Buy, harrassing 8 - 10 of their sales people, and squeezing the box in the back of the Acura, this is what we ended up with.

We set it up last night after all of our hours at Best Buy, following recommended guidlines for size vs. viewing distance, etc. , and looked at each other and said, "That thing is way too big!!" I think we will end up trading it in for a smaller version.

So, here we publish our guidelines for buying an HDTV, based on our experiences from yesterday.

1. The TV's look much smaller at the store than they do at home.

2. Shop at a store where the workers don't make commissions - we did some price comparisons at Ultimate Electronics and after 10 minutes we had to leave, we felt like we were being circled by the vultures.

3. Do some research beforehand. - We had been talking about this before yesterday so we had some pretty good ideas about what we wanted.

4. Every sales person has their own opinion. After way too much time at Best Buy, we had narrowed our choices down to 4. We then asked a sales person to help us in deciding between the 4. He proceeded to tell us all about plasmas, contrast ratios, etc. and ended up recommending a TV not in our final 4.

5. Measure the box. - After making our purchase, we knew it wouldn't fit in the Civic, but we thought that it might in the back of the Integra. The guy measured a Samsung box for us, saying the Sony would be about the same size. He was right, it was about the same size, only bigger, meaning we had to drive home with the back not completely shut. At least we got lots of looks from everyone passing us.

6. In the end, Lexie will like the box more than anything else.

Today is my 20 week mark. Can I get a hip, hip, hooooooo-ray?!?!?! We're on the countdown. Only 20 more weeks and 140 days to go. But who's really counting.

I was bored too...

Following in suit of my brother I figured I'd give this a whirl...

5 Thing’s I was doing 10 years ago:
1. Hating life because my parents were so unreasonable
2. Wishing Will were home so he could take some pressure off of me.
3. Taking driver's ed
4. Getting paid to play piano for my high school choir. $1100 for doing just the warm-ups. They sang acapella most of the time. Not too shabby.
5. Counting down the days until I could transfer to Simi High School

5 things on my list to do today:
1. Enter our receipts into Quicken
2. Think about working out and maybe possibly doing it.
3. Load and run the dishwasher then unload
4. Convince Troy that he really wants spaghetti instead of fried rice for dinner...less prep work
5. Think about the stuff I should do tomorrow.

5 Snacks I enjoy:
1. Cheddar Jack Cheese-its. By far the best kind
2. Breyer's Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
3. As of right now, cheese sticks
4. Churros from Costco. Yum
5. Totino's pizzas

5 Places I’ve lived:
1. Simi Valley, CA
2. Provo, Ut
3. Denver, CO
4. Castle Rock, CO
5. Haven't really moved around much. I avoid it as much as possible

5 Places you’ve been:
1. Hawaii
2. Hong Kong
3. Jackson Hole
4. Virginia
5. Vancouver, Canada

5 things I would do if I were suddenly made a Billionaire:
1. Invest (Troy would do that for me)
2. New car
3. A deck for the backyard
4. Travel all over the place specifically Italy and Spain
5. Buy vacation home and cabin somewhere tropic and somewhere in the mountain and have a private jet with a pilot to take us to those places. (that counts as one thing, right?)

5 jobs I’ve had:
1. Piano teacher
2. Cannon Center card swiper...thanks Bri for handing over the reigns.
3. Twilight Zone/Candy Counter cashier
4. Adminstrator for design center
5. Dental Assistant

5 Pet Peeves I have:
1. People who can't drive in the rain. Not a problem when there's snow but for some reason rain scares them.
2. Traffic jams for no good reason
3. Clipping finger/toe nails in public. DISGUSTING!!!!!!
4. People who litter
5. "pink hot" pants and butt tight jeans crammed into boots

5 Things you didn’t know about me:
1. I suck my tongue. Very bad habit but can't seem to give it up
2. I've played the piano in front of a crowd of over 1,000 people
3. I love to eat...oh wait I think everyone knows that
4. I read cookbooks to fulfill my hunger
5. I've bungee jumped off a 17 story building. (Don't ask me how long it too me to "jump"/tip over the edge)

I think that about covers it. Hope this was somewhat interesting.

Oh what to post...

There's not a lot things that happened last week that worthy to write about except for the glorious, beautiful weather we had Wednesday through Saturday. I even opened up the windows to let fresh air in those days. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday while Troy was at work I was able to get out and take some walks. It was nice to be able to get out of the house and see something different. Saturday was the most beautiful day of all. Denver hit a record high...74 degrees!!!! Practically all the snow in our backyard had melted and even some of the front. I even did a little spring cleaning. Then Sunday came and brought a nice winter storm with snow and wind. The temperature dropped a good 40 degrees by midday. I can't wait until spring is officially here and the snow leaves for good!

Another highlight...I'm 4 days away from hitting my 20 week mark!!!!! I'm almost halfway through and I can't wait to begin the countdown. All I have to say is thank goodness for elastic. I think elastic is my best friend right now to my ever expanding waistline. We also find out next Monday what we will be having so keep your eyes posted!!!!
