Merry Christmas Eve!!!!!!

We survived the Denver Blizzard of 2006. According to the news, this was the 4th worst storm ever recorded in the history of the Mile High City!!!! Even as we type this, Mother Nature still continues to bless us with snow. Well, at least we can say that a white Christmas is guaranteed. :) We were able to get out of the house on Friday and Saturday. We spent Friday finishing off the last-minute Christmas shopping that had been delayed a few days (we're not procrastinators). We also went to the movies and saw The Pursuit of Happyness. It was pretty good. Tracie even drew a tear or two. The highlight (if you can say that) of the day was when we stopped to get gas at Costco and sat in the parking lot for 1 1/4 hours waiting to get out. Obviously, everyone had cabin fever that day.

Saturday, we ventured out again to take a look at the house. Surprisingly enough, stuff had been done. Apparently the blizzard didn't scare off everybody. We were happy to see that the wood floors had been stained, the kitchen counters and sink had been installed, and the shelves in the closet hade been put in. We also, finally, have a mostly complete exterior part of the house (we're still missing our side garage door). We can't believe that the house will be complete in a matter of a few weeks.

Besides our expeditions out, we have had a very pleasant stay indoors. As you can see, the blizzard hasn't even affected Lexie! We're excited to leave for Utah tomorrow and have a change of scenery. We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and an awesome New Year!!!!!!!!!!!

Blizzard Cont.

So we got out enough to check out the damage. Can you find the cars?? Luckily we had Robyn's Tahoe, so the four wheel drive came in handy. And our building blocked a lot of the wind, so the drifts weren't to high next to our cars. The sun is started peaking out of the clouds just after one today, and by now the skies are blue and we are in for a chilly night. The major roads aren't too bad, but side streets are still buried. We will be sitting at home for the rest of the night, and we may try and venture out to the mall tomorrow to finish up our last minute Christmas shopping.

Blizzard!!

So as you have heard, we are buried here in Denver!! The first pictures were taken yesterday as the snow started. The ones on this post are from this morning! It has been snowing since about 4 a.m. yesterday morning, and as we speak, at 9:15 a.m. it is still snowing. The roads themselves aren't too bad, since it is a dry snow, but once you get off the main road, you become like this car, and you just get stuck. Luckily, Tracie and I were both home safe and sound by 2 in the afternoon. Hopefully we don't get cabin fever today, since there is little chance of leaving again today. This is easily the worst storm we have ever been in, with totals this morning of at least 22 inches!!! At least it will be a white Christmas here in Denver!!!!!

Merry Christmas

This will probably be our last post before Christmas, so to those who we won't see this holiday season, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See the rest of you soon! Our early Christmas present was visiting the house and seeing that they had painted and added cabinets. We had yet to see the kitchen with the island, so it was cool to see how that would fit in. We also did a little decorating to make it feel a bit more festive around our apartment. We sprung for one of the biggest trees that they had at Lowe's. We feel that it is quite fitting. We didn't even need to pose Lexie for the Christmas picture. Robyn drove out to drop off her stuff, and spend a couple of days with us and her friend Emily. The highlight of their short trip was our time at Blossoms of Light at the Denver Botanical Gardens. The lights were cool, and we enjoyed the music from Evergreen High School, and the United Methodist Church. (Jesus is the light of the world, is the light of the world, is the light of the world!) You can buy these glasses that make all the lights look like snowmen or snowflakes. They are kind of cool to look through once, and might keep the kids entertained, but the lady in front of us was probably in her 50s, and she was wildly amused the entire time! She was much more entertaining than the glasess.

Gettup on your dance floor!!!

Look what we have...floors!!!! Except for the carpet; that's usually one of the last things to be installed. We headed down this afternoon but after the sun had started to set. We weren't able to see much but were very excited to find that the wood and vinyl floors had been installed. The walls have been textured and are ready to be painted. Cabinets are ready to be installed too. We can't believe so much has happened in 2 months.
Robyn, Tracie's old roommate, will be coming this Wednesday to move in with us for the next few months. We're excited to have her and hopefully we'll be able to convince her to stay in the Mile High City.

Hong Kong

Here are some more pictures from Hong Kong. One is the IFC building, the tallest in Hong Kong at over 400 stories. Then there is a picture of the Bank of China building with Will and Kristin, and then a picture of us on the Tram.

Home for the holidays

This is what happens to a house in two weeks! It looks like a real home! We have a garage door and finally a driveway. The inside is all drywalled, and it is cool to see all of the seperate rooms. I think after the get the roof tiles up and finish that last side of siding, most of the exterior work will be done. We are getting excited, and only a couple more months!

Nee How (hello)

After 27 hours on a plane, walking 25 miles, eating tons of food, and spending lots of money...WE'RE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our trip to Hong Kong was absolutely Ahhhhh-mazing. We enjoyed the time that we were able to spend with Tracie's family especially our little nephew Jason. (Hello baby - that one's for you Kristin). Once we arrived in Hong Kong, we were on the go. Most days were spent scouring the city for bargains, aided by Joanna's mad bargaining skills. We also took a tour around Hong Kong. We saw a Buddhist temple, the largest floating restaurant in the world (maybe), the sun twice, Victoria Peak, and Stanley Market. At Stanley Market, Tracie's mom helped to get the whole gang the best bargain ever. If you want to know details...email us. We must say that Jason was the hit of the whole trip. Everywhere we went people would stop to tell the group how cute Jason is. We whole-heartedly agree. Good work, Will and Kristin. All in all, we had a wonderful trip. We've finally become adjusted to Denver time after a few nights waking up at 3 in the morning ready to go for the day.

Winter's here...we think

So, we think winter has finally decided to come this week. We had a little teaser earlier this week where the tempurature reached a high of 80 degrees. The highest it has ever been in Denver ever for the month of November! Today we were lucky if we even exceeded 40 degrees. But don't get us wrong, we love Colorado and think everyone should move here.

Not much has happened on the house since last week. The ventilation, air, and heater will be installed sometime this week and we have our pre-drywall meeting this Friday. We have gotten our closing date though. It will be Jan. 31. 2 1/2 months from now we will be official home owners and in debt for the rest of our lives. :)

The Skeleton

So, sorry that everything is out of order, but we figured it was better to just get all of the pictures up here. So as you can tell, we have a nice skeleton of a house. It's crazy how much they have done in the last week! As you can imagine, we are getting quite excited! In other news, we celebrated Troy's birthday on Monday. He appreciated everyone's well wishes and reminders that he is one year closer to 30. On Tuesday, we opted to skip the Trick-or-Treating and go to see the Lion King at the Buell Theatre. It was very, very cool, especially the costumes and the stage set up. Those who have seen it before will know what we are talking about, and those who haven't will just have to go see it for themselves. We are looking forward to Hong Kong in a couple of weeks, and Troy is looking forward to resuming his regular work routine after his test tomorrow.

Happy Halloween

The framing has begun on our house. Probably by next weekend, the second story will be up and pretty much there won't be anything that will stop the house from finishing. We are definitely looking to close by the end of January. How exciting?!?!?!?! We can't believe that it's only less than 3 months away. It seems like yesterday when we went down to Castle Rock "just to take a look."

Yesterday, we went to Troy's co-worker's home for a pumpkin carving party. It has been quite some time since we've carved a pumpkin. At least for Tracie. It's been at least 6 years for her. As you can see from our masterpiece, we did a fine job. We even came as the first runner up among 14 other pumpkins. Not too shabby for being so rusty. There's actually 2 carvings on the pumpkin. The one pictured came out better in the picture but the other one is cooler.

Winter?

So we got snow not once, but twice this week. Tuesday it rained/snowed a little bit during the day, and started to stick to the grass that night. Then on Saturday, it snowed over night, and we woke up to snow. Apparently it started snowing at like 4 in the morning, we didn't see it until around 9! The snow was gone by Wednesday afternoon and early Saturday afternoon. We had our annual Chili Cook-off on Saturday. Troy actually followed a recipe, and while good, did not win any prizes. The house continues to come along. We have the foundation in, as you can well see. Framing should start by the end of the month, but it is possible that nothing will happen this week.
