It's My World

Yo! What's up? It's me Brooke. So I'm like 2 and a half years old now, and I guess my parents think I'm becoming more independent or something, so they said I should write a blog entry. Whatever! I think they're just jealous because I beat both of them in the March Madness pool. But enough about them.

Sometimes I just like to hang out by myself, you know? Well, bear is always with me, but he doesn't count, cuz he understands me, even if I stuff him into my Dora bag.

As you can see I have a pretty good fashion sense. I want to get one of those lap dogs to push around in a stroller, but I guess baby will have to do.

Of course it's not just about the clothes and the shades, you need to accessorize as well.

Of course I'm not just a girl that cares about clothes and stuff, I'm also smart and caring.

Squishy can't read, so I help her out.

So what if I wake up early some mornings, bang on my bedroom door yelling "Open the Door!" "Open the Door!" At least I know how to make myself breakfast!

I don't see why they seem so troubled about me becoming more independent...

It's a Man's World and Painting Woes

Troy's brother, Shane, came out to visit and have a man weekend with Troy. The man weekend was started up by Uncle Shane painting Brooke's fingers and toes cougar blue. Brooke had been talking about this all week and absolutely could not wait for Uncle Shane to fulfill his promise. Later in the afternoon, Troy and Shane headed up to the Pepsi Center, which by the way is affectionately known as The Can, to watch the first round of the NCAA tournament. Now, not just any first round but specifically the Cougars. A friend of ours had tickets at club level which made the experience all the more enjoyable.
Besides watching a ton of basketball over the weekend, the guys were so kind in painting the baby's room. Little did Shane know that this was his payment for us allowing him to stay with us. :) Luckily he did it very willingly and I didn't have to lift a finger to tape or paint. It was wonderful.
Brooke wanted in on the action but this was pretty much as close as she could get to the paint until...later in the afternoon, after the boys had left for the b-ball game and I decided to help by taking off the tape. After a few minutes of tape removing, I hear a voice saying, "uh oh" Now we all know that can't mean a good thing and I turn around and see a nice, bigger than a drop, size pool of paint. Not the light colored paint but the one that we had a chosen as an accent color. I immediately move Brooke to the plastic and call the paint store to see what can be done. Afterwards I call up a carpet cleaning company but they can't come until the following morning so I have to sit and wait. The only thing that I could do is put moist towels on the spill so the paint wouldn't dry. The carpet cleaning guy came the next morning and cleaned as much as he could. It's not perfect and I feel like as days go by the spot is only getting darker but I guess it'll have to do for now. Besides the ugly spot I think the room turned out nicely. I think the kitties think so too.
Luckily I still have to wash the bedding.

Last but not least, like mentioned before, we have been enjoying a lot of basketball around here. So much so that Brooke definitely knows who to root for. Make us proud, Cougars!!!!!

Back to the grind

Well, we left the excitement of Tucson behind and snapped back to reality.

Since we have church at 8 am, we've been having choir practice at our house in the afternoons. Brooke loves having Lizzy and Johnny come over, and this is how they keep themselves entertained.

Self portraits.

Updating Facebook statuses.

Helping Squishy live up to her name.

We also had some company for the week. Mckenna sent us Flat Stanley, and he spend a very thrilling week with us.

Fun In the Sun

I don't think we ever posted a picture of the final product of our s'mores cookie. It isn't the greatest of pictures but use your imagination. Let me tell you that it DID NOT disappoint and it was worth eating every crumb. The beginning of last week, we were able to enjoy tempuratures in the high 50s maybe low 60s. I forget the exact numbers but nonetheless it was glorious to be able to play outside. Brooke took full advantage of it by taunting Squishy but I don't think the kitties minded. They were just glad to breath in some fresh air.
Other than blowing bubbles, and drawing with sidewalk chalk, Brooke was able to finally master riding her tricycle. She always had trouble going up a slight incline and finally figured that the placement of her feet on the pedals was all she needed to be able to make the climb.Brooke also had fun getting herself stuck in a box. As the cold air blew into Denver mid-week, Troy whisked me off for a fun, short getaway to Tucson. We left early Thursday morning and treated outselves to a spa afternoon. Do you notice the nice glow on my face? That was from the facial. Afterwards I was spoiled with a body scrub and massage. It was fabulous and for a brief, brief moment I forgot I was pregnant. I was allowed to lay on both my back and my stomach and it was wonderful. While I got the massage, Troy treated himself to some much needed sun, warmth, and outside air. None of the stuffiness from being in an office all day.
Friday, we headed to the Colossal Caves which is south of Tucson. I wish I could say the drive was scenic but all there really is to see is a lot of cacti mixed in with rocks and dirt.
The cave was pretty interesting. The guide mentioned that it is not a live cave but it still breaths. Not sure what that means but at least we didn't find any living creatures in there. Luckily the bats that are usually there had migrated south for the winter.
This was pretty much the only spot where it was a little close for my comfort but everywhere else was roomy and well paved.
The Colossal Caves had a discovery map that we followed to various spots in the area. One of them included the windmill and I thought it would be a great place to capture was Tucson pretty much looks like minus the windmill. After the caves, we headed to the movies and watched Adjustment Bureau. Both Troy and I were grateful that we had seen a deal from Fandago to get 2 tickets for $9 because I don't think the movie would have been worth the original $22. If you're skeptical about the movie, I'd just say to stick with the Bourne series.
Later in the evening, we met up with my old college friend, Lili, and her husband and headed out for some Indian food. Loved the company and food but not so much the stale Indian food smell the next morning.
We headed back to a cooler Denver the following morning and was happily greeted by Brooke. Many, many thanks to our friend, Stacie for taking Brooke on for the days we were gone. The quick getaway was just what I needed to kick myself into gear and let the nesting begin. Only 10 more weeks. Yikes!!!!!!
