Happy Halloween

The framing has begun on our house. Probably by next weekend, the second story will be up and pretty much there won't be anything that will stop the house from finishing. We are definitely looking to close by the end of January. How exciting?!?!?!?! We can't believe that it's only less than 3 months away. It seems like yesterday when we went down to Castle Rock "just to take a look."

Yesterday, we went to Troy's co-worker's home for a pumpkin carving party. It has been quite some time since we've carved a pumpkin. At least for Tracie. It's been at least 6 years for her. As you can see from our masterpiece, we did a fine job. We even came as the first runner up among 14 other pumpkins. Not too shabby for being so rusty. There's actually 2 carvings on the pumpkin. The one pictured came out better in the picture but the other one is cooler.

Winter?

So we got snow not once, but twice this week. Tuesday it rained/snowed a little bit during the day, and started to stick to the grass that night. Then on Saturday, it snowed over night, and we woke up to snow. Apparently it started snowing at like 4 in the morning, we didn't see it until around 9! The snow was gone by Wednesday afternoon and early Saturday afternoon. We had our annual Chili Cook-off on Saturday. Troy actually followed a recipe, and while good, did not win any prizes. The house continues to come along. We have the foundation in, as you can well see. Framing should start by the end of the month, but it is possible that nothing will happen this week.

Happy Birthday Lexie!!!!!

Happy birthday Lexie!!!!! So she's officially a year old, or so we think. Always the trouble maker, she got her head stuck in a kleenex box and ran around with it for a while. Who needs to give her birthday presents, she keeps herself pretty entertained with common household goods.

So the weekly update of the house is that the forms are in. Foundation should be poured this week. And from what Tracie hears around the office, we should be getting a phone call pretty soon to set our closing date. How exciting.

Denver's been both cold and warm. Yesterday was cold and wet but today has been nice and sunny. The forecast of snow and blowing rain kept us from using free tickets to the Broncos' game last Monday. I guess we're not true fans, at least not Tracie.

Hole

So we officially have a hole in the ground! Crazy! This is definitely one of the stages when the house looks big, or in this case, the hole in the ground. It is really cool to see some real progress, and from what we are hearing, the foundation should be poured within the next week or two, so expect some more pictures. Our scheduled completion date is still sometime in mid-January, but we are still hoping for a big snow storm to delay us at least until the middle of February. Looks like our prayers may be answered on Wednesday. They are predicting the first snow storm of the year.
Yesterday we baby sat for one of Tracie's co-workers since her husband was on business in Taiwan. Let's just say that we are glad to know that when we do have kids, they won't immediately by 2 and 4 year old boys!!! They were super cute, since they are 1/4 Chinese. We had fun playing garbage man with them and taking them to the park. They wore us out, Tracie needed a nap when they were taking theirs'.

So we finally have news to report...the dirt has been moved and our lot is now staked. Our sales person says that it's pretty much any day now for when they'll actually break ground. There's such great anticipation. We were able to meet a couple of our neighbors and we're excited to move into the neighborhood. Now all we have to do is wait until the beginning of next year to move in.

We celebrated Tracie's birthday this past week with a 5 course dinner at Maggiano's. It's an Italian restaurant and has wonderful food. Tracie was in heaven. Calamari was her favorite. Tracie would also like to thank everyone for their birthday wishes. Although she was not looking forward to turning 24, hearing from everyone made her day.

The 5 Browns

Friday night we went to the 5 Browns concert. They are the 5 siblings that trained at Julliard and absolutely phenomenal on the piano. Their fingers move quicker than the eye. The concert was held at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and it was snowing down there. Actual big flakes and everything. It wasn't even Fall yet! Okay, maybe Fall was to start the next day but still. We had dinner at a real authentic Chinese Restaurant. We're very excited that we've found the real deal. It's almost like Sam Woo!!!! We'll treat all interested parties who come out to visit.

Two Reasons to move to Colorado

This is the sunrise on Friday morning. Not a bad sight to wake up to. Yesterday we went driving up the Rocky Mountains to see the Fall Foliage. This is taken just over Loveland Pass, about an hour from our place. It also happened to snow yesterday, especially up near the Continental Divide, where our temperature gauge registered 26 degrees! What else would you expect at 12,000 feet? We then went shopping at the Silverthorne outlet stores, and had dinner at a quaint Italian restaurant in the Historic Downtown of Idaho Springs.

Nephew Tour Summer 2006

Well, it took us two weeks, but we are finally posting about Labor Day. Unfortunately, we forgot to pack the camera, so no pictures. As most of you know, we went on a Nephew Tour, since we hadn't seen them in so long. We must say that we have the three cutest nephews in the world! Our first stop was to see Matt and Wendy. We met up with them, got to know Wendy better, and enjoyed pizza at the Pi. Saturday we enjoyed breakfast at Magelby's fresh, hung out with Jer, Kenz and Channing, but the highlight of the night was Frisbee golf with Will and Kristin. We only threw a few into the trees, and needless to say, Troy is not in Frisbee golf shape, so he was feeling it for the next couple of days! How pathetic is that! Sunday was dinner with Troy's family and the Burt side of his family. It was good to see everyone, and more importantly, win the 25 Famous People Game! Monday Troy went golfing with the boys, and then played in the Labor Day bowl. It was a fun weekend, and thanks to all of you for your hospitality and making it so. It was hard to leave, but we did get some good news this last Sunday. Troy was released as Executive Secretary! The Bishop felt it was time for a change, and we certainly are fine with that. Tracie is looking forward to riding to and from church with Troy, and having him home more on Sundays and Tuesdays.

Last weekend was our second anniversary, and Tracie planned a Denver Getaway. Our first stop was the zoo, where our favorites were the wrestling black bear family, and the urinating elephant! Pictures to come...

We are finally adding something to the blog. Here is a picture of Lexie from back in January. So cute and innocent!!
